1. Installation :
Unzip CRO_2.zip into the directory of your choice.
You should see the following files-
	Cro_2.exe		(the executable file)
	Readme.txt		(Instructions etc...)
	SoftAd.txt		(Details on more software)
	Ordering.txt		(How to order CRO TUTOR)

Running CRO TUTOR -
Using Program Manager's File/New..Browse menu, add the CRO TUTOR icon into 
a program group and double-click on it, or just run the program with 
Program Manager's Run menu.

Problems ?
A Visual Basic run time file is required - VBRUN300.DLL 
If you received the Cro_2.exe file program and you have problems then 
ensure that the file VBRUN300.DLL is in the directory path of CRO_2.exe
or in the Windows/System directory.  
The VBrun file is freely available from FTP sites.
(If you received the setup.exe file then it will install the VBRUN file 
for you.)


2. Operation and Features :
CRO TUTOR is available in two forms - 
CRO_1 is a basic version which introduces a simple Cathode Ray Oscilloscope.
It shows only vertical (V/div) and Timebase controls so as not to overwhelm 
a student with a full oscilloscope front panel. 

To start the program, click the ON button at the top right hand corner 
of the screen or press the Enter key.  A sinewave will be displayed and 
the controls must be adjusted (by clicking in the option buttons) to 
scale the wave correctly.
A student should determine the amplitude and period and then check the 
values by using the Show Values menu. 
A new wave is generated with the Next Waveform menu.
A test is presented when the student feels confident. Pass mark is 80%.

Let your students master CRO TUTOR before letting them loose on the real 
thing!  It's also useful for a quick class demonstration of CRO basics.
CRO_1 suited to students studying their first electronics course 
at Years 8 - 11.  Current price is AUS$15 (US$12) per copy.


CRO_2 is a more advanced version which adds coupling and trigger controls 
to the screen in the Intermediate and Advanced levels.  
In the Intermediate level, students can observe a wave with a DC offset and
examine the effect of DC and AC coupling on the display.  A vertical shift
is also added for shifting the Zero reference.

In the Advanced level the Trigger Controls are introduced (level,+/-,cal,*5)
and a glitch is added to the waveform.  Students should use the extra 
controls to determine the starting angle of the glitch (ie. the leading edge
referenced to the sine wave) and the glitch amplitude. 

The angle is best determined by setting a full cycle to stretch across the 
screen (10 divisions), using the CAL (calibrate) control, which then makes
each division equal to 36 degrees. [Or stretch it to 9 divisions and then 
each division is 40 degrees.]
When measuring the glitch amplitude, the glitch should be magnified as much 
as possible by triggering just before its leading edge. Then use the *5 
scaler.

CRO_2 is aimed at students in Year 12 and at the University level.

Distribution of CRO TUTOR is encouraged, provided that
all of the following conditions are met:
  1) It is distributed only for the trial use of others.
  2) All files (cro_2.exe, readme.txt, ordering.txt, softad.txt) are 
     intact and in their original condition.
  3) If a distribution fee is charged, it must not exceed US$5.00.
